Yoga prudently entered my life, transforming it profoundly. It taught me the
power of vulnerability and the impermanence of failure—lessons gleaned amidst the challenges of perfecting asanas, where every pose is a journey rather than a destination. Through deep pranayama and mindful awareness, yoga revealed that true mastery lies in comfort and connection, not in perfect alignment. My journey began with meditation and the Sudarshan Kriya, paving the way for the practice of asanas. Here, I learned to embrace physical and emotional discomfort as part of growth. Ayurvedic principles guided me to understand my prakriti (constitution) and make lifestyle changes that supported my yoga sadhana. This holistic approach not only relieved years of bodily pain but also unburdened emotional weight, fostering shanti amidst life’s inevitable
fluctuations. This inner transformation ushered me into a realm of acceptance and gratitude, resonating with the timeless wisdom found in ancient Indian texts. When I embarked on my first yoga course, I discovered that yoga asanas come alive when infused with philosophy. The Bhagavad Gita’s teachings on the qualities of a human being and Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras’ guidance on mental clarity (Chitta-Shuddhi), coupled with Ayurveda’s insights into prakriti (individual constitution), became my guiding marga (path) to inner peace and selfdiscovery. Yoga, with its profound teachings and transformative practices, continues to guide me on a journey of healing, resilience, and profound spiritual growth.
